little bit french

Just a quick post to show you my most recent nail look. I feel like this is the most common thing I post and it's not even something I intended to talk much about! I guess I'm just getting really into my nails!

Anyway, here are the nails:

I started off trying a really complicated nail art design (angry birds, requested by my boyfriend after the chicken nails haha!) and it went terribly. So I decided I'd just do a plain French manicure rather than any sort of art. But then when I was searching through my nail polish drawer, the red glitter polish really stood out!

I haven't got a photo of my tools this time but I used the Eyeko Petite Polish (no longer on the site, the closest I could find was this) and Barry M Red Glitter.

I'm really pleased with this look actually, when I first did it I couldn't stop looking at my nails! I think this looks better on shorter nails such as my index finger but I suppose next time I could just paint the same size area with the glitter rather than doing the whole 'white part' of the nail.

I really love the way the colours match and look together and so it's made me want to try it with pale blue nails with navy/blue glitter tips! What do you guys think?

accessorize bargain!

Today I want to share with you what I believe to be a complete bargain!

I know Accessorize makeup has been around for a while now so there may have already been plenty of posts about this but I wanted to talk about what I bought, which was a trio of eyeshadows.

I think the packaging is really pretty without being too over the top with bright colours and patterns.

L-R: Truffle, Sage, Soft Pink

I think these are really lovely shades which I can't wait to try out! I've swatched them (see below) but am yet to try them out on my eyes and am really looking forward to doing so.

Truffle is a dark silvery brown colour with a bit of purple in it too. I thought taupe might be a good word to describe it but I've since googled taupe and it looks like this isn't brown enough really. It's still a lovely shade though, perfect for a smokey eye.

Sage is a deep olive green colour. I'm thinking this will look good with my eye colour (greeny blue) and help my eyes to stand out.

Soft pink is a really gorgeous baby pink colour which, if nothing else, will be great as a highlight colour. I don't usually like pinks for anywhere other than the lips but I think this colour is really beautiful.

Swatches! I think this photo shows the shadows more as their true colour, and I think this shows what I meant about Soft Pink being a good highlight colour. These shadows all have a really pretty shimmer to them, and are all super soft and velvety, as well as being really well pigmented, especially Truffle.

I know I said I hadn't tried these on my eyes yet but I tried out Sage while I was typing this and I'm really impressed. It glides on so smoothly with pretty much no fallout at all, which was a pleasant surprise.

And now for the amazing part. The cost of this trio was.... £1.99! I know, I thought it must be a mistake too, but I've since found it online too, here! I intend to buy the other set too as I wasn't sure which of the two to get. What's so brilliant about this price (aside from the quality of the shadows) is that each one retails individually at £4.00! See here: 1 2 3. So even if you only like the look of one of these, it's still 50% cheaper to buy the set, and then you have 2 other eyeshadows to play around with.

Overally I'm incredibly impressed with these shadows. I definitely intend to buy the second set and am now very interesting in looking more into the rest of the Accessorize makeup range. I really recommend this set!

Have any of you tried the Accessorize makeup? What did you think?

chicken nails!

I was browsing tumblr and found this picture on the fuckyeahnailart tumblr which I love for inspiration. I know it's a bit of an Easter look but I figured it also goes with Spring which I think we're definitely in now :) So I thought it wouldn't look too out of place.

I definitely didn't achieve the same look as the original, especially on the little finger (by the way, look at the improved condition of my little finger compared to my previous nail posts! I'm getting there, slowly :D), but I'm happy with it. Annoyingly I chipped my thumb nail (you may be able to see where I've touched it up) which was my favourite nail :(

Here is what I used:

Yellow: Barry M Lemon Ice Cream
White: 'Touch of Class' Nail Tip Colour (came in a 99p french manicure set!)
Red: Nails Inc for Diet Coke Milan
Brown: Barry M Mushroom
Black/Grey: W7 Pewter
I do have a set of 5 of these dotting tools but I always seem to go for the same one!

I really struggle to choose a plain nail colour, I much prefer having some sort of design. Even if it's a bit silly like this one is, I just really like looking at my nails when they've got a design on them :)

What do you guys think?

fiesta!

Second try at this, thanks Blogger!

So I've been saving for a while for a new car. I had a T-reg Fiesta before and I really liked the car, and loved the new model, so decided I wanted to upgrade to that. It took a lot of saving up and decision making, but 2 weeks ago I put down my deposit, and this weekend the car was mine!

To save this from being a post purely about a car, here's what I wore the day I picked it up:

Dress and Jacket: Primark
Shoes: Tesco
Necklace: Elsie Belle

I've had my ghostly legs out all weekend, hoping to catch a bit of sun. However I think what's helped more is my Dove Summer Glow! I can't wait for my holiday to Spain, less than 5 weeks to go now! :D

And here is a photo of my old car next to my new car:

I got pretty attached to my old car and was really sad to see it go, but I sold it to a friend so hopefully I'll still see it from time to time!

sunday

I just have a quick outfit post for you today. I went to Cambridge yesterday and thought the weather would be a little nicer than it was, but it was still not too bad :) Here's what I wore:

Dress: New Look
Cardigan: Forever 21 (US)
Bag: Dorothy Perkins
Shoes: Tesco
Necklace: Elsie Belle
Watch: Marc Jacobs

Two shockers here - everything I'm wearing is from somewhere different, and nothing is from Primark (except the shopping bags, but all I bought was baby wipes)! This is quite a big deal for me haha :D

I've had this dress for years, it was £5 in the sale and all they had was a size 12
(not my size) but I bought it anyway because I liked it so much. It has a tie at the waist as you can see, so it doesn't look too much like it doesn't fit. I've worn this dress loads since I got it, and for the first time I ripped it while I was out if you noticed, but that was fixed once I got home :)

I promise this isn't supposed to be a posey 'look at my shopping and starbucks' photo, I was just waiting for the bus!

I'm getting into the habit of doing this, but here's a picture of some geese and their babies to make up for the lack of relevant photos :3

my weekend

Hi guys! Sorry I've not been posting much recently, I've just been so busy and am struggling to find things to blog about in the small amount of free time I do have. Sine part of the reason for my quietness has been my plans, I thought I'd do a quick blog about what I got up to over the bank holiday weekend!

I did watch the royal wedding, but not by choice. I have to say I didn't hate watching it, it was interesting to see but I don't have a huge sense of patriotism and completely lost interest around the time of the vows. If I'm honest I was more interested in watching my Twitter feed going crazy! Kate did look lovely though, the dress wasn't something I'd wear but she looked great in it :)

I drove up to Bristol with my boyfriend and a friend, to go visit other friends (thats a lot of the word 'friend'!). We did a lot of walking and chilling out and then on Sunday we visited Bristol Zoo. I'm a big fan of zoos and love watching the animals so it was a great trip for me :) I'm going to break this post up with a couple of pictures from the zoo since I don't have any other relevant photos!

During all the walking (Bristol is a big place!), my shoes started to really dig into my feet. They were getting tatty anyway so I decided to throw them in a bin and grab something cheap from Primark (not in that order!). The Primark in Bristol is huge and it just seems a lot nicer than most of the stores I've been to. Unfortunately I didn't get to have a proper look around as the others were waiting for me but I got a pair of flip flops so I could cushion my feet with the foam. I also spotted this vest top which I changed into because it was getting pretty hot. I love the colour and I know it's a bit of an autumn colour really but I just really liked it. I know the picture's crap but it has a longer back than front and has a pocket on the front too.

We also ate at an Indian restaurant called Thali, we went to the Clifton branch but there are 3 others in Bristol too. It was really gorgeous, the food was great and the atmosphere was lovely. I'd definitely recomment you try it out if you're in the area and like Indian food.

All in all I had a really good weekend, the weather was nice for the most part and I had fun :) Today I've just been relaxing, had a long shower and poured chocolate mint all over me which was delicious! I'm now sitting thinking about what to have for tea, and waiting for my boyfriend to come over so we can cook.

I hope you all had nice weekends, what did you get up to?
