sky nails

Hi everyone :)
Just a really simple nail look today!

sky nails

The idea behind this was the sky. I have 4 crackle effect polishes by Barry M but had so far only ever used the black one. I thought it was about time to use another, and as the white one is a neutral colour I thought that would be easiest to come up with a look for.

I actually really like how this turned out. I've used this not-so-brilliant quality photo because I think it shows that if you look from afar or at a glance, the effect is really quite cool. I thought this was a really simple way of doing a form of nail art that still has an idea behind it, if that makes sense? It's so easy and doesn't require any skill and yet in my opinion is an eye catching design!

Out of the black and white crackle polishes I think I like the white one more, although I've only used it once so far. I also have the blue and pink to try out (pink is the one I'm most unsure about how to use - any ideas?), and I really like the look of the purple and gold ones too! I also want to try out the foil effects ones - clearly I'm a sucker for effects and Barry M!

So anyway, I've rambled quite a lot for such a simple look! What do you all think?

Tuesday, 20 September 2011

Hi guys! Hope you all had a good weekend :)

I wanted to post my nails today, but there were some outfit photos on my camera which matched so I decided to post about both! I wore the outfit at the weekend and painted my nails last night :)

This look was done using all Barry M Nail Paints - (cuticle to tip) Berry Ice Cream, Bright Purple and Vivid Purple. I really want to try ombre nails but I need a couple more purple shades for that! This design really reminds me of those stripy ice lollies but I'm not sure why as it's not really the same idea. I still really like it though :)

Had to include this picture because I love how it shows the shimmer of the Vivid Purple :D

Top /Cardigan: H&M
Belt: Primark
Jeans (just seen): Peacocks
Necklaces: Accessorize (short), Matalan (long)

And this finishes off the purple theme! Not a very exciting outfit really, but I enjoyed wearing it at the time. I've not really had any jeans for a while now and I got a new pair from Peacocks so was just enjoying wearing jeans for the first time in a while :)

There are two sets of clashes (is that the way to word it?!) in this: I wanted to wear both necklaces but at first thought I couldn't because of them being both gold and silver, but when I tried it I actually really liked how they looked :) The other is the bright coral/orange belt poking out, this is obviously quite a purple outfit so I liked how the belt stood out :)

eye makeup

A not-so-awesome picture of my eye makeup. This was actually recreated as I wasn't able to take pictures the first time I wore it, and I do think it looked better then. This look was done with predominantly the dark brown colour next to the black (see this post for reference) in the Sleek Storm palette. There is a tiny bit of the black and the bottom left colour in the outser section but it is mainly just layering up the dark brown to get this look. I thought it looked a lot better in person, I was proud of the crease work :D You can see in the outfit picture that I have the brown under my eye too.

So that was my purple post! I hope you all liked :) Let me know what you think!

natural collection blushers

I'm back with another Natural Collection post today, this time about blushers!

The two colours I got are Peach Melba (Left) and Pink Cloud (Right). They were the only two shades in the branch of Boots I was in although I've seen others in different branches. You can see the other two shades here, I think these are the two I would be most drawn to anyway.

Peach Melba looks a darker in the pot than it does when swatched, as you can see below.

As you can see, Peach Melba looks a lot more peachy when swatched, and Pink Cloud is a really pretty baby pink. I really love both these colours! I think they're very different but at the same time they both go with plenty of looks. I think you can wear both of these any time but if I was choosing I'd put Pink Cloud with summer and Peach Melba with winter.

This was the best photo I could get of the blushers on my face. It was about 7pm and there was no natural light, so I couldn't do much better, sorry! :( That being said, I think you can see the difference between these colours pretty accurately. Pink Cloud is on the left and Peach Melba is on the right. I think Pink Cloud is more of a 'blush' colour whereas Peach Melba give the face some colour and warmth, if that makes sense? The blushers apply fairly lightly so you can have just a 'barely there' look, but they are very easily buildable - I had to build quite a lot to get them to show up in my horrible lighting and it was easy enough!

Overall I do really like both these blushers and am very impressed with them, especially for the price - less than £2! Boots are doing 3 for 2 at the moment so I got a free Natural Collection lipstick (yes, another!) with these. If you have 2 things you need anyway I would highly recommend grabbing one of these as your free product if you're not sure about trying them :)

Have you tried any blushers from this brand before? What did you think of them?

Hope you liked!

drippy nails

I haven't done a nail post for a while, so I thought I'd show you my latest nail art!

Barry M Peach Melba and Racing Green

I actually did this in two different colours to start with but just wasn't feeling it, and I much prefer this combination.

I'm pretty happy with how this turned out :) I love both these colours and think they go pretty well together! I think the peach makes the green really stand out.

Just a short post from me but I wanted to show you anyway :)

What do you think?

witch anti-blemish liquid concealer

I was really happy to win one of these from Zoe's giveaway! I'd seen a lot of talk about Witch on Twitter and blogs and so was keen to try it. I so far haven't seen any in stores and I'm not comfortable with buying makeup online unless I already know I like it.

witch concealer

I've had this for almost a week now which I know isn't long but in terms of performance I feel that I can tell pretty quickly whether I like it or not - and I do!

witch concealer

It comes in a pen-like tube and is one of those products where you twist the end to make the product come out into the brush part. I had to twist it quite a lot to get any out but to my understanding this is normal for that sort of product - this is the first one I've used myself.

witch concealer

As you can see in the picture above, I did get quite a lot come out all at once the first time, but I have since got used to how the product works and been able to get the right amount out each time.

witch concealer

I was sent the lightest shade (01 Light) which I am in pretty much all products, and while it may look a little light on my hand, it blends in perfectly once on my face. It's quite a thick consistency, I certainly wouldn't call it runny, and it's very easy to blend into the skin.

witch concealer results

I struggled to get a decent picture to show you (I decided against demonstrating on my blemishes!) but hopefully this shows the difference - the eye on the left has the concealer underneath, the right eye is left with nothing. Hopefully you can see that it has definitely brightened up my under eye area and helped to cover the red/purple discolouring around there. On my blemishes this works the same, it doesn't fully cover but with foundation and/or powder I can definitely notice the difference from when I don't use it.

The one thing I did notice that I'm not necessarily a fan of is the smell. I've never used any witch hazel products before but I'm assuming that's what the smell is. If it smells like that for a reason like that (instead of just being perfumed that way) then I can't complain really, although it does take some getting used to. I find that I can smell it for a very short time after applying but then it goes away.

Overall I'm a big fan of this concealer. Witch have informed me that this is available at Boots and retails for £6.99, which I think is very reasonable!

Have any of you guys tried this? What did you think?

primark jewellery haul

The past few times I've been to Primark I haven't really got much on the clothes front. I have got a few pieces of jewellery though, which I thought I'd share with you :)

squirrel necklace

Of course, there are plenty of animals in there! I don't think any of these cost more than £2, maybe £3 at the most which is such a great bargain! I always find Primark jewellery to be such great value and I've never had problems with the quality - to be honest I think it can be better than more expensive high street brands!

EDITED LATER TO SAY: I went to put the little owl necklace on today and realised it wasn't from Primark at all! I've actually shown it in another blog post and it was a gift from Accessorize! Sorry!

owl ring

stag ring

I love these two rings! (I also really like how these photos turned out :D)
Again I'm sure these were no more than £3 each, and I think they're great pieces to make a statement with!

I also got some stag earrings to complete the set - I have stretched ears but one has almost closed up so I can just about sit an earring in it now :)

So, that was my mini jewellery haul! Hope you liked!

What do you guys think? Are you fans of Primark jewellery?
