dainty doll lipstick - baby love

Hi everyone!

Dainty Doll lipstick in 006 Baby Love

Today I'm going to be posting about the Dainty Doll lipstick in 006 Baby Love. I found a load of Dainty Doll products in a make up discount store so I bought quite a few - as seen in this post. Oops! On that topic I've noticed on blog posts that some sites are selling Dainty Doll cheap, does anyone know why? I'll be disappointed if they've stopped making products as I've found a couple of items that I really like.

First off I really love the packaging of the lipstick. Aside from the Brand name you see on the photo above the packaging is the same satin-y black all over with a standard little sticker on the bottom. The only thing I dislike is that the actual name of the shade isn't on the product, just the number - the name is on the cardboard box but I know that needs to be thrown out, I'll hoard too much otherwise!

I chose what is probably one of the most safe colours that was on offer, a nudey, slighly peachy pale pink. It is a very safe colour but it's also really lovely. The formula is great, really creamy, pretty opaque and not at all drying.

On my lips this is slightly lighter than my natural lip colour but is pretty enough to be noticeable and is a perfect everyday colour.

In general I am really impressed with this lipstick - I paid somewhere between £2-3 but would be happy to pay more. I am definitely interested in having a look at the other shades in the line. I know the colours are made for pale girls and this suits my pale complexion perfectly.

Have you tried any lipsticks from this range? What would you recommend?

barry m textured - ridley road

Hi everyone!

Today I'm going to be talking about the first product from my haul post on Sunday. This is one of Barry M's Textured Nail Paints in Ridley Road

I deliberated over the other colours too but eventually I was drawn to the mint colour as always!

Before applying to the nail you can see on the brush that the polish is grainy, it almost looks like it has loads and loads of little air bubbles in it but obviously that's not what they are.

Straight away this reminded me of Mint Green, also by Barry M, so I thought I'd do a quick comparison. Mint Green is darker in colour, but I find that Ridley Road is a lot more vibrant, especially on the nails as seen above.

I really like this polish but I'm just not quite decided on whether I like it in general or I just really like the colour. The texture is definitely not for everyone, I know a lot of people like a really glossy nail but I'm a fan of matte nails anyway so I don't mind it too much. My mum's reaction was "It looks like you've not painted your nails properly" so obviously she's not a fan! I'm not sure I would go back and get the other colours, but that's more because of what the colours are I think. But I'm quite happy with it and I do think the colour is lovely :)

Have you tried any of these textured nail polishes? What did you think?

haul

Hi everyone!

Super quick post from me today. I've been shopping! Just wanted to show you a few of the things I got as I'm hoping to be posting about them sometime soon.

Mini Haul

Nivea Express Hydration Primer
Heard so much about this so am really hoping I like it!

Simple Light Moisturiser
Just something I'm trying out as I was out of moisturiser and it's light so hopefully won't cause problems with my oily skin. Not 100% I will review this as I'm not great at reviewing skincare.

Barry M Textured Nail Polish
Tried this already, I like it! Full post coming soon

MUA Undress Me Too Palette
Had to buy this to complete the set! Hoping it will be good, I haven't had a play with it yet.

Okay, I wrote this blog post this morning. I then went out and shopped some more (oops!). So here's an updated photo:

Look out for the posts soon :)

rimmel apocalips

Hi everyone!

Today I'm going to be talking about the new 'Lip Lacquers' from Rimmel - the Apocalips. I'm sure you've heard plenty about these already but since I've recently tried them out I wanted to share my thoughts.

Rimmel Apocalips

The three shades I bought were (L-R) 600 Nude Eclipse, 500 Luna and 101 Celestial. The idea of this product is a lipstick and a lipgloss combined into one. They apply and feel (to start with, anyway) like a lipgloss but have the pigmentation and finish of a lipstick. What I'm going to do is talk about my overall opinion of the products and then go on to talk about each shade individually.

Rimmel Apocalips

In general I am really impressed with the Rimmel Apocalips. I have to admit that from all the rave reviews I'd seen of them, I did have quite high expectations, but I wasn't disappointed at all. They're so creamy and easy to apply, and don't dry out the lips at all. I am 100% not a lipgloss person at all so if you're not either, you don't need to worry with these. Once on they just feel like a really creamy lipstick. Lasting power wise I was also impressed. They do last for a good few hours, as you would expect the darker shade lasts longer than the lighter ones. Eventually if left alone they will dry a little bit which makes them less likely to transfer.

Rimmel Apocalips

Nude Eclipse
This colour is the one that I think looks most scary on swatches - especially on the swatch that's not on my lips! It is a pretty neutral nude colour, there's not much hint of any other colour in it at all. I do worry a little about it washing me out but I think paired with the right makeup look it can look really nice. I also sometimes apply a smaller amount and rub it in with my fingers to tone it down a little.

Luna
This is a very orange toned coral colour. It's definitely really pretty when worn right but I think this is the one I'm most nervous to wear in public. I've tried this with a really small amount of Nude Eclipse on top and I think that makes it much more wearable. If you are a fan of orange/coral lips this would be perfect for you.

Celestial
This is a fairly safe pink colour - a bit dusky, and very easy to wear. This was by far my favourite to apply of the three, and probably my favourite to wear in general. It's so smooth and pigmented, I found only one coat was needed of this.

So as mentioned I am extremely happy with the 3 shades that I have got and am definitely looking to purchase more - specifically the red one which I think is called Big Bang.

Have you tried these yet? Which shades would you recommend?
