Another lip product review today! This post is going to be about one of the new MUA Power Pouts. I suppose these are the cheaper version of the Clinique Chubby Sticks but I've not tried any of them so can't compare the two. I bought the shade Justify.
One thing I will say about the colours of these (or this shade, for me anyway) is that it's kind of hard to know what it'll look like until it's on your lips. In the tube this is bright orange - I never would have bought it on that alone, too scary! When I swatched it on my hand, it looked like a slightly pale corally pink colour. On my lips it's much brighter, more vibrant and redder. I guess it depends entirely on what the product is being put onto, so could look very different on different people. Here's a bit of an example:
Colour confusion aside, I am very impressed with this product. I really like the colour and like that it gives a really good colour payoff while still feeling like a balm on the lips. Payoff wise, the colour shown is what it looks like with just one coat. That being said, you can keep applying it and I haven't really found that it intensifies too much - it gets to it's most vibrant right away. This is good in the case of not needing to use much product but it does mean that it's not very easy to tone down or build up. I also love the scent - it's minty which I wasn't expecting.
There is one thing I'm super impressed with that I didn't expect to be - the staying power. I had assumed that because it's a balmy product, it's not going to last very long. While this is definitely true if you're eating or drinking right after applying, if you leave it a while to 'set' a bit, I've found the longevity to be really good. I applied this at around 4pm one day, and after it had dried a little I had a few drinks, yet at around 10pm it was still very visible on my lips. It didn't have the glossiness that it has on first application but the colour was definitely still there. For a product like this, that's something I wasn't expecting at all and was very pleasantly surprised with.
These products are £3 each (link here) which I think is really reasonable. I can't seem to find information on how much product is in one tube, but this photo should give you some idea:
Overall I am really happy I tried this product out and am more than interested in trying the other shades.
Have you tried any of these? What did you think of them?
Hope you liked!
