maybelline colour tattoo - on and on bronze

Hi everyone!

Today I'm going to post about something that I'm sure you've read about before - the Maybelline Colour Tattoo, I have the shade On and On Bronze.

I thought this was the most wearable shade and therefore would be a good place to start. It will probably come as no surprise to know that I really like this. It's good as both a base and on it's own, it's a lovely colour and really easy to use. I haven't quite mastered using a brush with it yet, but it's fine with my fingers - it probably makes it easier if anything, to heat the product up a little first to blend better.

On first impressions I have to admit I was expecting it to be more like a product from Rimmel that I posted about here - almost 2 years ago! I'm not entirely sure which formula I prefer but they're not as similar as I thought they would be so it's hard to compare.

One thing I really wanted to make clear in this post is that the staying power of this is really good! It sets very quickly and once dry, it doesn't move, which is great.

I am definitely interested in the other neutral colours, especially Permanent Taupe. It seems like a slightly lighter version of this shade, but with less shimmer, which would be really wearable at any time. I'm not sure on the brighter colours really but as bases and also on their own, I'm sure I would get a lot of use out of any neutral shades.

Have you tried any of these Colour Tattoos? Which shades would you recommend?

barry m nail art pen

Hi everyone!

Today I'm going to be posting about what I believe is a fairly new release from Barry M - a nail art pen.

Barry M Nail Art Pen

In all honesty I only bought this to make up the numbers to get money off when I bought the polishes in this post. I thought black would be the colour I'd get the most use out of. It took me a while to try it out, I've not done any nail art in a long time and I thought it was time to get back into it. Below are a couple of the looks I've done recently - you can definitely tell I've not done this in a while!

Once you get used to it I found the pen pretty easy to use, but it does take a bit of getting used to. I felt a bit hesitant about pressing as hard as you sometimes need to, for fear of ruining the polish underneath. But overall it's easy to use, although not quite as easy as an actual pen. I was half expecting it to be like a felt tip pen, but it's much more stiff than that - I guess it has to be to stop it drying out straight away. It's one of those pens that you have to push down a few times to get it working - I would definitely recommend having some paper or something like that nearby to do this on, as it's painful on the back of the hand!

There is one thing you should definitely be aware of though...

These pictures were taken about 3 or 4 days after the photo above, but the rubbing off started pretty much right away. I put a top coat on one hand and not on the other - I doubt I need to tell you which is which! So you absolutely need a top coat on this pen.

I hope I haven't seemed too negative so far because I do like this product. There is no streaking at all when applying the top coat, and once the top coat is on the pen seems to last as long as it needs to - I took the leopard off to do the zebra so I'm not sure how long it would have lasted. I don't know if I'd necessarily be interested in the other colours just because I don't know if I'd get much use out of them - the white could come in handly though.

These cost £4.99 which I think is very reasonable, I know Topshop do one which is a little more that I would assume works in a very similar way.

Have you tried these pens? What did you think?

my first nubar experience

Hi everyone!

Today I have a bit of an exclusive for you! These are two new polishes by Nubar that should be coming out around the end of May, so this is quite a head start!

Nubar Polishes

The purple on the right is called Purple Love and the pink is called Summer Love. I have to be honest and say that I struggled to photograph these as they're so amazingly bright! But even so I couldn't resist sharing them with you.

Nubar Polishes

Like I said my camera struggled to pick up the difference, this was the best photo I could get although it's slightly out of focus. Both colours have a blue shimmer running through them, the purple more obvious than the pink. I've also found that the finish is almost rubbery - they're still super shiny and shimmery but there is a little bit of a difference to them that I can only describe as rubbery. They don't feel like that though, they feel very smooth and apply so effortlessly. I have a feeling that in this photo the purple is one coat, and the pink is two but could have got away with one - it might even be a one coater, I'm not certain. Either way the formula is great and the colours are just lovely! I prefer the pink to the purple as it's so eye catching and bright but they are both gorgeous.

Just want to say a massive thanks to my good friend Lizzie for giving me the chance to try these. I'd never tried any Nubar polishes before and am really glad I was able to, as I'm very impressed.

Have you tried any Nubar polishes before? Which colours would you recommend for me to try next?

primark haul

Hi everyone!

So, I spent rather a lot of money in Primark recently. I'm off to Spain again in June and wanted to get some things to wear while I'm away, and also for summer in general. This isn't everything as some of the things I bought were a bit boring to photograph, but I thought I'd show you a few of the things I got.

I think my favourite purchase is something I didn't photograph as it didn't look good, but I bought a plain black maxi dress. It may not seem very exciting but because of my height and body shape, I've always liked them but they've never liked me! However the black one just seems to work really well in every way. Hopefully I'll have a photo to show you at some point over the next few months. Anyway, onto the things I can show!

Primark Haul

I was in a local branch of Primark a month or so ago and they had absolutely loads of sandals that I really liked. However when I went to my favourite branch to do this big shop, this is the only pair they had that I liked. Considering the amount I spent, this was probably a good thing..! But I am thinking about going back just before Spain to see if they have any others, as I don't have that many pairs of sandals.

The pattern on these two skirts really stood out to me. Like pretty much everything in this post from here onwards, it's not something that's my usual style, but I'm trying to get out of my comfort zone a little. I picture wearing the bright one with either white, black or grey vests, and doing the opposite with the monochrome one with bright vests. I bought a minty green and a coral one which will look quite nice I think. The coloured one looks in the photo like it hangs a bit straighter but I think it's just the angle, in person they're both the same skater style which I like. They're a fairly thick material which I really like as they don't feel flimsy, they feel decent quality.

This dress again just really stood out to me, I really like the print and the colours of it. It definitely needs to be belted to give it a bit of shape but I think it will look really lovely in the sun.

Lastly I bought quite a lot of jewellery. Again, the style of most of this is quite out of my comfort zone, but they just made me think of summer so I gave them a try. I've worn a few pieces already and do really like them but I'm sure the bracelets especially will be forgotten about come September/October time. But all the jewellery I bought (I got some ear cuffs too but can't seem to find them at the minute) came to under £15 so for a few months wear I don't think that's bad at all.

So that's it for now. I am putting myself on a spending ban for a while!

barry m - gelly hi shine nail paints

Hi everyone!

Today I have a post about something which I'm sure you've all read about plenty of times already - the Barry M Gelly Hi Shine Nail Paints. I know lots of people have raved about these so I won't go on too much, but I just wanted to add my thoughts to the pile.

Barry M Gelly Hi Shine Nail Paints

I may have been too indecisive so just bought 5 colours..! In my defence, it was all on some sort of offer. 2 for 1 or something like that. So that's my excuse :) So these are some relatively new polishes from Barry M that are kind of a hybrid between normal and gel nail varnishes. They promise high shine without a topcoat in just one coat.
The colours I bought are: Lychee, Papaya, Prickly Pear, Greenberry and Grapefruit. I love the fruity names!

This photo is a bit more true to colour than the one above, I would say. I found application of these was really good. I did do two coats instead of one, most of the colours would have been fine without but Prickly Pear especially definitely needed an extra coat - I still think it looks a little washed out compared to the others. That being said, they all come out on the nail exactly like they look in the bottle, and I love all the colours so much! They are definitely right about the shine, it's really impressive and I purposely missed a topcoat so I can test out how that lasts. 24 hours later and so far, no change, and also no chips which is obviously good too. The formula is thicker than their normal polishes, and initially it felt like they would never dry, but then all of a sudden they all just went rock hard. Sometimes I feel like the original polishes dry fairly quickly but a few hours later if they get rubbed the whole nail could be ruined. So while these took a little longer to dry initially, once they did dry they were fine. I did these a couple of hours before going to bed, and they passed the bedsheet test with flying colours!

Ok, I said I wouldn't go on too much but Iseem to have managed to type quite a lot without realising, so I'll leave it there! Overall, it's safe to say I'm really impressed with this offering from Barry M, and so glad I went a bit crazy! These are £3.99 which is £1 more than the original formula, and I think it's totally worth it. I'm not sure I would buy any others just because I think I've bought all the colours that appealed to me, but maybe when Autumn/Winter comes around (so sorry for mentioning that!) I'll be more attracted to the darker colours, and at least I'll know I like the formula.

Have you tried any of these polishes yet? Do you like them as much as I do?
