ombre nails

Hi everyone!

Quick post from me today, just wanted to show you my attempt at ombre/gradient nails. This was done using W7 'White' and Barry M Gelly in Greenberry. My first attempt can ever so slightly be seen in this post but I had this vision of doing a white into mint nail look, and this is how it turned out.

Ombre Nails

The minty green is more vivid in person than this photo shows. I definitely still need to perfect my technique - I used this tutorial which I found really useful and easy to follow. Overall though I'm happy with how these came out, I think they're really pretty while not being too in your face 'nail art' if that makes sense. The cleanup is not fun though! What I do like is because the sponge makes the coat of polish quite thin, they dry super fast and last really well too. I will definitely be doing this sort of nail look in the future!

Have you tried this technique? I would love to see some inspiration :)

long term loves

Hi everyone!

Today I wanted to post about some of the products I use that have been part of my routine for a long time now. Sort of a favourites post but more favourites over the space of a year (or more, in some cases).

Long Term Loves

MUA Palettes - I love these things! I pretty much never stray from neutral eye colours and these have every colour I could need. If I'm doing my eyes I will reach for one of these every time.

Collection Lasting Perfection Concealer - I've lost count of how many of these I've gone through. I have a post drafted all about this so I won't go into too much detail - and I'm sure you've read about it on just about every other beauty blog out there anyway!

Mac Hue Lipstick - Not much to say about this. Easy to wear, lovely colour, great formula, that's about it!

Real Techniques brushes - specifically the Buffing, Contour and Expert Face brushes, but I love the eye brushes too. I don't use anything else to apply my makeup, so these speak for themselves I think.

Mac Mocha Blush - In all honesty this is far from my favourite blusher that I own. However I wear it pretty much every week day (you can see it's well used!) because its just so easy to wear, inoffensive for everyday and looks fairly natural. For someone as pale as me, if I don't wear blusher I get asked if I'm ill, so this is a must have for me!

Long Term Loves

Batiste dry shampoo - I try not to need to use this too often, but on days where I do need it, I can't fault the Batiste range. I prefer the Tropical scent but currently have the Blush one on the go.

Liz Earle Cleanse & Polish - this is either my 2nd or 3rd bottle of this. I just find it so easy to use, cleans my face and leaves it feeling soft rather than stripped. I love the smell for just before bed too.

Soap & Glory Clean on Me Shower Gel - This is actually the product that inspired this post. I realised I've been using this product for probably 2 and a half years now, almost exclusively! It's always included in the Christmas sets, and I often get another bottle separately, and then it's my birthday halfway through the year so I often get stocked up then. A 500ml bottle will last me probably somewhere between 3-4 months as a little goes a long way, so this works out great value too.

St Ives Apricot Scrub - I'm not often one for face scrubs so I admit I haven't tried that many, but of the ones I have tried this is my favourite. Smells good and I like how it feels on my face - not much more to say really!

Barry M Gelly Hi Shine Nail Paints

Barry M Nail Paints - The photo is of the Gelly versions but really this just represents any Barry M polish. I know some people have their complaints about the quality of these polishes but I've never had any problems. Their shade range is fantastic, always coming out with new releases and at such an affordable price. A huge portion of my collection is Barry M and for good reason :)

So those are a few of the products that have stayed in my routine for an extended amount of time. Do you have any recommendations of products you've stayed loyal to? I'd love to hear :)

soap and glory - smoothie star body milk

Hi everyone!

Today I'm going to be posting about a product that has been a lifesaver recently - the Soap & Glory Smoothie Star Body Milk - link to buy at Boots here.

Soap & Glory Smoothie Star Body Milk

It's something of a tradition now for me to get the Soap & Glory massive selection box that always sells for a really good deal for Christmas. Last time that included this, the Smoothie Star body milk. I'll be honest, I am terrible at remembering to moisturise - there are several Righteous Butter tubs lurking around my room that are barely used. However having just got back from Spain, my tan is starting to peel a little (nice!) and so it's reminding me that I really need to keep moisturising, and this is what I've been using.

Soap & Glory Smoothie Star Body Milk

As you can see from the above photo, the word 'milk' is probably a little misleading. It's more of a cream but it is still on the thinner more runny side of a cream, which I personally prefer. I don't need a super thick butter most of the time and I really hate feeling greasy and sticky after applying. This sinks in really fast and doesn't leave any sort of residue on my skin which is ideal for me.

Now, something that needs it's own paragraph - the smell. This smells absolutely delicious! So sweet and yummy, which is exactly my type of scent. My mum on the other hand isn't a fan, so this probably isn't for everyone. But if you like sweet smells then I'm sure you'll love this!

I am just really happy with this. For £10 you get 500ml which in my experience so far is lasting for a really long time! I would definitely recommend this, probably more so for people who don't have super dry skin, as this is fairly lightweight. There is a butter version though for people with drier skin who like the scent. I'm definitely in the 'milk' camp though :)

Have you tried this, are you as big a fan as I am?

what i ate - spanish edition #2

Hi everyone!

Back again to show you all the yummy food I ate in Spain :) you can see part 1 here. Now for the food!

These three photos are taken at a restaurant called Tutti Frutti in Altea - website here. I would say this place has earned itself title of my favourite place to eat in Spain! I loved it last year and loved the same dish again this year. If you go back to last year's post you can see they have changed it slightly, but it was still just as yummy! Dessert was apple strudel with a stack of watermelon which was also lovely :)

Spanish Food

Paella! Couldn't go to Spain without having a paella, and I really enjoyed this one. So much so I forgot to take a photo before we dug in! This is from a restaurant called Cap D'or in Moraira - TripAdvisor link here. The reviews aren't brilliant for this place but we really liked it.

Spanish Food

I believe this is sea bass, with some serrano ham and vegetables. This was also really tasty, from L'Almacera in Teulada. Run by a super friendly husband and wife team who come from England, they really make the restaurant what it is in my opinion. Website here.

Lunch at Ca Maria in Javea - link here. I had garlic cod (the stuff that looks like cheese on top is actually a garlicky sauce. It came with veg and potato, I love the way so many places serve potatoes in Spain. For some reason I wasn't expecting to like this but it was actually really nice!

Grilled vegetables, swordfish and profiteroles at El Nido - TripAdvisor link here. Love this place, been so many times and it keeps us coming back!

More grilled vegetables for a light meal, annoyingly I can't remember the name of this place but I just wanted to show you as I loved how they served the onions! This was super yummy :)

For our last meal we went to Satari's - link here. I had sea bass, Bryn had a fancy folded crepe for dessert and then there's the star of the show - my dessert. Melon slices with mango sorbet, in a mint and ginger sauce with crystallised mint on top. Sounds simple but I think this is honestly the best dessert I have EVER eaten, it was amazing! Think I need to try to replicate this!

So that's all my food from Spain! I have to admit one of the things I look forward to the most when going on holiday is getting to try different foods and this year didn't disappoint at all, everything was lovely :) I miss it already!
