w7 in the buff palette

Hi everyone!

Today I have a review on a palette I've been wanting to try for a while - the In The Buff palette from W7. I've seen this palette mentioned a few times and it's always intrigued me. Let's not pretend - this is an imitation of the Urban Decay Naked palette - specifically the Naked 2. But in all honesty I can't justify spending £30+ on a palette, so this alternative really appealed to me.

In terms of packaging and first impressions, I really like this. It feels sturdy thanks to the tin casing, and the set of colours is just so pleasing to me! I am definitely a neutrals girl. This palette comes with 12 neutral shades, 3 of which are matte. I haven't used the brush that comes with it, so I can't really comment on that, but from initial impression it doesn't feel like it will be that useful - but that's to be expected I think and I didn't buy this palette for the brush!

One thing I do want to point out is that I know it looks like the lighter shades (Buff, Sand and Silk to an extent) have no colour payoff - this isn't the case at all, it's just that they are so close to my skin-tone. In reality all of these shadows have great pigmentation, blend super easily and feel so soft and easy to work with. In particular I've been really loving the shade Storm for in my crease. If I have a lighter shade, maybe Earth or Silk all over my lid, Storm is a great crease colour to just add a bit of shadow and dimension.

From what I have experienced, staying power on these is great and they don't seem to crease on me, which is something I was worried about. I haven't tried them with a primer (I actually only bought a specific eye primer fairly recently - shame on me!) so with one I'm sure they would be even better.

I know this isn't that great a photo and in all honesty I can't actually remember what is on my eyes here, but I just wanted to share this picture as an example of the sort of look I've been getting out of this palette. Since getting this I can't remember using anything else, I've been really enjoying using it and combining different shades.

The Urban Decay offering retails for around £37, which I just can't picture myself spending - and to be honest, after finding the In The Buff palette, I don't feel the need. The W7 version seems to be anywhere from £5-10 (Amazon link here but you can find it cheaper if you look around), I think I paid around £7 for it, which I think is an absolute bargain! I think it was more than worth my money and would highly recommend this for any neutral shadow lover. Now to find Naked 1 and 3 versions...

Have you tried this palette?

spring nails

Hi everyone!

I'm allowed to say it's spring now, right? The lovely weather at the weekend made me want to do something more seasonal on my nails. I was inspired by this post from Nouvelle Daily.

A few things to apologise for: 1. Using a photo taken on my phone. 2. The extremes of the long/shorts of my nails. 3. My hands looking a little red (I have no idea why!) and 4. The fact that it kind of looks like I've drawn fried eggs on my nails!

That being said, I couldn't not show you! When I first did this look I wasn't overly happy with it, but the more I look at it (especially from a little bit of a distance), the more I like it - hence the photo taken on my phone a few days later.

I used Barry M Papaya for the base and W7 White and Essence Little Miss Sunrise for the daisies. This was so simple to do and didn't take much time at all, but I am really liking it!

Have you embraced spring nails yet?

rimmel kate moss lasting finish matte lipstick - 107

Hi everyone!

Another lipstick post today! This is a lipstick that is way out of my comfort zone. I had a voucher from Christmas to spend and couldn't decide what to get, so I decided to get something I wouldn't normally buy. I know this is a bit of a wintery colour which I shouldn't be wearing any more, but I actually really like it and am glad I decided to try it!

The lipstick I chose was Rimmel's Kate Moss Lasting Finish Matte Lipstick in the shade 107. It's a deep berry red colour which is something I would never normally go for, I've never tried dark lips before.

Hopefully these pictures give you an idea of the colour on the lips- it's sort of a mix between the two, not as bright as the bottom picture looks. Although this is the matte formulate it's more like a velvety satin finish so it's not drying at all. After a few hours the shine wears off and then the lips are left stained with the colour - something I personally really like as I want my lips to have colour, but I hate my lipstick transferring onto everything I eat/drink.

The colour lasted for me for a good 6 hours and still looked good when I removed it - I'm sure it would have lasted however long I wanted it to by that point, as it was more of a stain so wasn't going anywhere! It came off easily enough with a baby wipe though.

Overall I am really happy I branched out and tried this lipstick, I'm so pleased with the formula and staying power so I am definitely interested in trying the other shades now.

This lipstick is available from boots for £5.49 - here - which I think is a great price - I also just found it on Amazon for £3.95 - here - as part of their add-on scheme, which is even better!

Have you tried this, or any other shades from this line? Were you as happy with it as I am?

collection deluxe lipstick - talullah

Hi everyone!

Today I have a post about a lipstick I bought on a bit of a whim, as I had a voucher to use up. I spent ages in the Boots aisles, searching through the stands to find something I wanted. And in the end I went back to a 'safe' colour that I knew would be hard to get wrong. Typical. the lipstick I bought was from Collection's Deluxe range (something I didn't actually know existed) and the shade is Talullah.

That being said, I'm glad I picked this up. It's a perfect everyday pink, not too bright but not too nude that it's invisible. the formula is nice and soft, it glides on easily and doesn't feel drying at all, but also isn't so slippery that it disappears straight away. It does have that typical "old-fashioned" lipstick scent, but personally I quite like that so it doesn't bother me.

In all honesty I don't really know what to say about this lipstick other than I really like it and am glad I now own it! It costs £3.99 - link here - which I think is really reasonable for such a nice lipstick.

Have you tried any of the lipsticks from this line?
